Co-host of ABC's "The Chew"
Mario Batali, arguably one of the most recognized and respected chefs in America today, is a co-host of ABC Daytime's upcoming lifestyle series "The Chew," seated alongside fellow restaurateur and "Iron Chef America" star Michael Symon, "Top Chef" alum Carla Hall, entertaining expert Clinton Kelly and health and wellness enthusiast Daphne Oz.
Batali and his business partner, Joe Bastianich, own 17 restaurants across the country, including their flagship New York City restaurant, Babbo, as well as two restaurants in Los Angeles and three in Las Vegas. In the summer of 2010 they opened Eataly, the largest Italian artisanal food marketplace in the world. This past winter the duo opened Pizzeria Mozza and Osteria Mozza in the Marina Bay Sands Resort Casino in Singapore, and this summer, Tarry Lodge Pizzeria and Enoteca will open in Westport, Connecticut, and a new Pizzeria Mozza location will open shortly thereafter in Newport Beach, California.
As a TV personality, Batali has hosted a variety of television shows for Food Network, including "Ciao America" and "Molto Mario." In the fall of 2008, his PBS series "Spain...On the Road Again" aired with co-stars Mark Bittman, Gwyneth Paltrow and Spanish actress Claudia Bassols. Batali is also a frequent guest on "Good Morning America," "The Today Show" and "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon."
The author of eight cookbooks, including the James Beard Award-winning Molto Italiano: 327 Simple Italian Recipes, Batali's latest bestseller is Molto Gusto, based on the classic and celebrated dishes of Otto Enoteca Pizzeria. His upcoming cookbook, Molto Batali, will be available this fall.
In 2008 Batali started the Mario Batali Foundation with a mission of feeding, protecting educating and empowering children.
Batali splits his time between New York City's Greenwich Village and Northern Michigan with his wife and their two sons.
