ABC Tuesday Prime (8:00-11:00 p.m. – 12.8 million and 2.4/7 in AD18-49):
ABC finished as the dominant most-watched TV network on the final Tuesday of the November Sweep (+1.0 million over second-place CBS – 12.8 million vs. 11.8 million) and ran in a virtual tie for No. 1 in Adults 18-49 (pacing within 1-tenth and tied in audience share for the lead – 2.4/7 vs. 2.5/7 for CBS). ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” finale stood as Tuesday’s most-watched TV show by 20% over runner-up CBS’ “NCIS: LA” (14.6 million vs. 12.2 million from 9:00-10:00 p.m.).
“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” (8:00-9:00 p.m. – 9.3 million and 2.5/7 in AD18-49):
At 8:00 p.m., ABC’s “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” spiked 35% week to week in Total Viewers to deliver its 2nd-biggest-ever audience and was up for the 2nd week in Adults 18-49 (+4%) to equal a 5-week high (since 10/22/13).
“Dancing with the Stars” (9:00-11:00 p.m. – 14.6 million and 2.4/7 in AD18-49):
From 9:00-11:00 p.m., the season finale of “Dancing with the Stars” made ABC the No. 1 network in the 2-hour time period with Total Viewers, key Women (W18-49/W25-54), Teens 12-17 (tie) and Kids 2-11. Dominating its final half-hour from 10:30-11:00 p.m., as Amber Riley won the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy, “Dancing” delivered 15.4 million viewers and a 2.6/8 in Adults 18-49 to lead its nearest competition (CBS’ “Person of Interest” = 11.6 million and 2.1/6) by 3.8 million viewers and by 24% in young adults.
A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating comparisons based on the Live + Same Day data stream are distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has jumped up to 48% currently, from 46% at the same point in 2012. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. The only truly valid year-
to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
