Ratings Report for ABC News' "Nightline"
For the Week of June 29, 2009

"NIGHTLINE" IS #1 FOR THE WEEK OF JUNE 29 IN TOTAL VIEWERS,
ADULTS 25-54 & ADULTS 18-49 - 2nd WEEK IN A ROW THAT
"NIGHTLINE" PLACES FIRST AMONG TOTAL VIEWERS
"NIGHTLINE" GROWS AMONG TOTAL VIEWERS 26% YEAR TO YEAR

ABC News' "Nightline" was #1 among Total Viewers, Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 for the week of June 29, 2009, outperforming NBC's "The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien" and CBS' "Late Show with David Letterman," according to Nielsen Media Research. This marks the second week in a row "Nightline" placed first in Total Viewers. Both NBC and CBS aired repeats last week.
"Nightline" continues to grow season to date, week to week and year to year. Averaging 4.02 million Total Viewers for the week, "Nightline" grew +26% versus the same week last year, as "Conan" declined -16% and "Letterman" increased +2%. Week to week, "Nightline" increased +3% among Total Viewers while "Conan" decreased -34%. Season to date, "Nightline" increased 13% among Total Viewers. Additionally, "Nightline" increased its total viewing lead over "The Tonight Show" by 700% week to week and 400% year to year.
Among Adults 25-54, "Nightline" grew 5% compared to the same week last year, 1% versus last week and 3% season to date. "Nightline" also increased among Adults 18-49, 9% compared to the same week last year, 5% week to week and 5% season to date.
* Note: Due to the July 4th holiday, all three late-night programs were coded specials and are excluded from the average for Friday, July 3rd. Due to Wimbledon highlights, the "Tonight Show" was delayed and was coded "Tonight Show-CO." Their ratings for the week are excluded from the average.
ABC News' "Nightline" is anchored by Cynthia McFadden, Terry Moran and Martin Bashir. John Donvan and Vicki Mabrey are correspondents. James Goldston is the executive producer. The program airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m., ET on the ABC Television Network.
