A primetime soap with a truly contemporary take on the "happily ever after," "Desperate Housewives" takes a darkly comedic look at suburbia, where the secret lives of housewives aren't always what they seem.
The series began with Mary Alice Young (Brenda Strong) leaving her perfect house, in the loveliest of suburbs, and ending it all. Commenting from her elevated P.O.V., she took us into the lives of her family, friends and neighbors. This fall, the program resumes five years later on Wisteria Lane with several changes and new secrets in store for her circle of girlfriends. Susan Mayer (Teri Hatcher) is with a new man; Lynette Scavo (Felicity Huffman) struggles with raising troublesome teenaged boys who have an affinity for breaking the law; Bree Hodge (Marcia Cross) -- Martha Stewart on steroids - is the owner of a thriving catering business and on the verge of publishing her first cookbook; and Gabrielle Solis (Eva Longoria Parker) finds herself chasing after two daughters and looking drastically different from the ex-model she once was. The ladies have welcomed Katherine Mayfair (Dana Delany) into their small, tight-knit group, but their disdain for their prodigal neighbor, Edie Britt (Nicollette Sheridan), remains.
Then there are the men: Mike Delfino (James Denton), the father of Susan's son; Lynette's adorable husband, Tom (Doug Savant), who always stays by his wife's side despite many challenges; Gabrielle's ex-husband, Carlos (Ricardo Antonio Chavira), who was left blind in the storm that ravaged Fairview; and Bree's husband, Orson Hodge (Kyle MacLachlan), who is committed to doing anything for her.
Two new men have also moved into the neighborhood - Jackson (Gale Harold), the new man in Susan's life, and Dave (Neal McDonough).
From her unique vantage point, Mary Alice sees more now than she ever did alive, and she's planning to share all the delicious secrets that hide behind every neighbor's closed door in this seemingly perfect American suburb.
