DAVID NORRIE
Expert Commentator, College Football, ABC Sports David Norrie joined ABC Sports as a color analyst for regional college football broadcasts in August, 2000. This year he will team with Sean McDonough on regional games. Norrie comes to ABC from Fox Sports Net, where he had served in a similar capacity since 1996. Norrie began his Fox Sports Net career working Pac-10 telecasts, and later added Big 12, WAC and Army/Navy assignments to his fall packages. Prior to joining Fox, Norrie spent two seasons (1994-1995) as the color analyst for UCLA football broadcasts on XTRA Radio. He held the same position with the American Network Group in 1992-1993, and KMPC Radio in 1991. He also hosted College Football 93 and College Football 94 for KMPC Radio. During his five seasons working UCLA radio, Norrie was a two-time nominee for Best Color Analyst by the Southern California Sports Broadcasters Association. A four-year letterman QB at UCLA, Norrie was a member of three Rose Bowl championship and one Fiesta Bowl championship teams. He led the Pac-10 in passing in 1985, guiding the Bruins to the conference championship and a Rose Bowl appearance against Iowa. He was named first-team academic All-Pac 10 that same year, as well as being selected as a Rhodes Scholarship candidate. He was also named to the West team as quarterback for the 1986 Japan Bowl All-Star Game. Norrie was selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the 1986 NFL Draft and played with the New York Jets in 1987. |
