GARY GEROULD
Pit Reporter/ABC Sports Auto Racing Coverage Gary Gerould joined ABC Sports' auto racing team as a pit reporter in March 1990. From 1979 to 1989 Gerould worked as a pit reporter for NBC's coverage of auto racing. He also called play-by-play for NBC's pro football coverage and was a member of their broadcast team for the XXIV Olympics in Seoul. Gerould has been active in the broadcasting profession since landing a job at KHSL-TV and radio in Chico, California, following his 1962 graduation from Anderson University in Indiana. His interest in auto racing began at age 14 when he worked on a part-time basis at WMDN-Radio in Midland, Michigan, as a sports reporter and anchorman, with auto racing as one of his primary assignments. From 1965-1977 he worked at KCRA-TV in Sacramento, California, then left to pursue freelance auto racing assignments as both a commercial spokesman and broadcaster. A native of Midland, Michigan, Gerould is the play-by-play announcer for the Sacramento Kings, a position he has held since 1985. He has the distinction of having called more than 1,500 NBA games, and ranks as one of the longest-tenured broadcasters in the league. He and his wife, Marlene, have a daughter, Beth, and a son, Bob. |
