Figure Skating Analyst, ABC Sports
Peter Carruthers, a former Olympic silver medalist and U.S. national champion pairs skater, is an expert analyst exclusively for ABC Sports' figure skating telecasts. He works alongside Terry Gannon, Dick Button, Peggy Fleming and Susie Wynne.
Carruthers has been very active in broadcasting skating events in recent years. In addition to commenting on ABC Sports telecasts, Carruthers also worked for Fox Sports and Turner as a commentator on their skating telecasts. He has also done prior work for ESPN, A&E and USA Network.
Along with his sister, Kitty, Carruthers won the silver medal at the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo. Their performance was the best for any U.S. pairs skaters in 32 years.
Their triumph at Sarajevo was the final chapter in an extraordinary amateur career highlighted by four consecutive gold medals at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships from 1981 through 1984, and a bronze medal at the 1982 World Figure Skating Championships. Peter and Kitty Carruthers were inducted into the Skating Hall of Fame in 1999.
Peter Carruthers lives in Southern California with his wife, Dina, and their sons, Kurt and Kenton.
