Bill Redeker is a correspondent for ABC News, assigned to the Intermountain West. He travels extensively for ABC News and covers international as well as domestic news. Following the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, he reported from Uzbekistan, Germany, Britain and Brazil.

Mr. Redeker served as the Middle East correspondent for ABC News, based in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, from 1995 to 1998. During his assignment, he covered the assassination of Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, suicide terrorist attacks in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, the Israeli and Palestinian elections and the bombing of the Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia. Prior to his Middle East assignment, he was a national correspondent reporting from Los Angeles, where he covered the O.J. Simpson trial, the 1993 California fires and the 1994 earthquake.

From 1988-1992 Mr. Redeker was the Far East correspondent for ABC News, based in Tokyo. In addition to reporting from Asia, he covered the Persian Gulf War from Saudi Arabia, and earned an Emmy Award.

For two years, from 1986-1988, Mr. Redeker anchored Fox News in Los Angeles, which won an Emmy for best daily newscast in Southern California. Prior to that he was a correspondent for CBS News, specializing in investigative and foreign affairs. He covered the hijacking of TWA Flight 847 in Beirut, the hijacking of the cruise ship Achille Lauro and the American air raid against Libya. He also made several reporting trips to Iran to cover the Iran-Iraq war and the "arms for hostages" scandal, obtaining an exclusive interview with Iranian leader Hashemi Rafsanjani, which was broadcast as a CBS News Special.

In 1984 and 1985 Mr. Redeker was a senior foreign correspondent for ABC News in London. He reported primarily on the Middle East and Africa. He also accompanied Pope John Paul II on several foreign trips. While at ABC News, he has received several awards, including six Emmys, a Peabody, a George Polk Award, an Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Award, an Overseas Press Club Award, a Christopher Award for foreign affairs and investigative reporting, a National Headliner Award, a Gold Plaque from the Chicago International Television Competition and two Ark Genesis Awards, presented by the Humane Society, for his work on wildlife issues.

Mr. Redeker reported for "20/20," "Nightline" and "Closeup," the ABC News documentary unit, from 1982-1984 and was the correspondent and writer of four highly acclaimed Closeup broadcasts "Oh Tell the World What Happened," "Rain of Terror," "The Cocaine Cartel" and "Mexico: Times of Crisis."

He joined ABC News in 1975 as a correspondent based in Los Angeles, after working as a reporter for KABC-TV. He began his career in television as a reporter for KTAR-TV (now KPNX-TV ) in Phoenix.
