Heather Nauert joined ABC News in June 2005 as a general assignment correspondent based in Los Angeles. She contributes to "Good Morning America," "Nightline," "World News" and its webcast, as well as other broadcasts and platforms.

Since joining ABC News, Ms. Nauert has reported on breaking news and feature stories including immigration, the war in Iraq and the Duke Lacrosse investigation.

Prior to joining the network, Ms. Nauert was a New York-based correspondent for Fox News Channel. There she reported for the program "Big Story with John Gibson," covering breaking news on a daily basis. She reported from Iraq on the elections, new military and reconstruction, and produced a five-part series on the Sudan and its humanitarian crisis in Darfur. She also covered the 2004 U.S. presidential election, the aftermath of events on September 11, 2001 and the 2003 black out.

In 1996 Ms. Nauert was a reporter for the syndicated business program "First Business," a weekly newscast airing in 110 markets nationwide. Previously she worked as government affairs consultant on health insurance, tax and Social Security issues in Washington, DC.

Ms. Nauert graduated from Mt. Vernon College in Washington, DC with a BA in communications, and received her master's degree in journalism from Columbia University. She is a term member at Council on Foreign Relations.
