PRESTON A. DAVIS

President, Broadcast Operations and Engineering

Preston A. Davis was named president of Broadcast Operations & Engineering for the ABC Television Network Group in February 1993.

Broadcast Operations & Engineering provides personnel and technical support for the Entertainment, News and Sports divisions of the Company. It operates and maintains the Network's production and program distribution centers in New York, Los Angeles and Washington. BO&E also plans, designs and acquires equipment and broadcast facilities for the television network.

Mr. Davis joined ABC in 1976, beginning as an engineer in Washington DC, and subsequently moving into various positions of increasing responsibility involving field and studio operations in Washington, Atlanta and New York. In 1988 he was promoted to vice president, Television Operations, East Coast, where he directed the efforts of studio and field operations, electronic news gathering, telecommunications and the RF Operations & Engineering Group.

Since joining ABC, Mr. Davis' responsibilities have involved not only day-to-day network broadcast operations, but also the technical planning support required for numerous news, sports and entertainment special events, including presidential elections for the primaries through Inauguration Day, and also major sporting events, including "Monday Night Football" and the Superbowl. He is currently overseeing ABC's multi-year transition from analog to digital technology, including the recent launch of the network's high definition television broadcasts.

Mr. Davis served in the U.S. Army as a specialist in communications technology and is a veteran of the Vietnam War. He sits on the Board of Directors of the Foundation for Minority Interests in Media, Inc., which provides programs for bringing talented minority youth into the communications industry. He also serves on the Board of Junior Achievement of New York, is a member of the Technical Advisory Committee of the Museum Of Television and Radio, and serves as a member of the President's Council of Cooper Union College of Science & Art.

A native of Norfolk, Virginia, he and his wife, Michelle, and their children, Ashley and Preston III, live in Morristown, New Jersey.
