Please Note: ABC’s Monday lineup was preempted in Milwaukee and Green Bay for local NFL coverage (1.07% of the U.S.).
“Dancing with the Stars” (8:00-10:00 p.m. – 14.4 million and 2.1/5 in AD18-49)
ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” finished as Monday’s most-watched entertainment show for the 2nd consecutive week, widening its winning margin from the prior week over “The Voice” (14.4 million vs. 11.6 million). Also in its time period, “Dancing” outdrew CBS’ 2-hour comedy block by over 6 million viewers (8.3 million). Brant Daugherty was eliminated this week.
“Castle” (10:00-11:00 p.m. – 11.9 million and 2.4/7 in AD18-49)
For the 4th week in a row, ABC’s “Castle” outdrew NBC’s “Blacklist” (11.9 million vs. 10.3 million) as the top series in the 10 o’clock hour and as Monday’s most-watched scripted program overall. Building for the 2nd week in viewers and young adults, “Castle” hit season highs with its best performance since May 2012 (since 5/7/12). In addition, “Castle” was up over its year-ago telecast (10.0 million and 1.9/5 on 11/5/12) in both Total Viewers and Adults 18-49.
A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating comparisons based on the Live + Same Day data stream are distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has jumped up to 48% currently, from 46% at the same point in 2012. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. The only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
